The National Biodiversity Conference is delighted to announce that the Taoiseach Micheál Martin TD will give the Keynote Speech on Day 2 of the 'Act Now For Nature' event at Dublin Castle.

The Department of Housing, Local Government & Heritage / National Parks & Wildlife Service event brings together policymakers from various sectors, national and international experts on environmental science and policy and representatives from the private sector, academia, NGOs and community groups to discuss the actions needed in the next National Biodiversity Action Plan for Ireland, due for public consultation later this summer.
Opening plenary speakers also include Assistant Secretary General at the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, Niall Ó Donnchú; Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage Darragh O’Brien, TD; Minister of State for Heritage and Electoral Reform Malcolm Noonan, TD and Minister of State for Land Use and Biodiversity Senator Pippa Hackett, with remote messages on biodiversity action from Elizabeth Maruma Mrema, Executive Secretary of the UN Convention on Biological Diversity, Stefan Leiner, Head of Biodiversity Unit, EC Directorate General for Environment, and Ana María Hernández Salgar, Chair of the Intergovernmental Panel on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services.
The event will also hear from Andy Bleasdale and Ciara Carberry on NPWS perspectives with
KPMG's Orlaith Delargy delivering updates on progress for the development of Ireland’s 4th National Biodiversity Action Plan, while Cara Augustenborg will chair a panel discussion on The Biodiversity Emergency and the Media.
